  • “Mana pašveidotā latviešu identitāte seko nevēsturiskas, ikdienas saprašanas par latvietību caur ‘paganisma’ praksēm, kuras atspēlējās pret nostalģias ‘retro’/80s latvietību. Šī mākslas sērja atspoguļo dzejiskās saprašanas par iemantotiem sapņiem, vārdiem, ritmiem, un vizūaliem mākslas darbiem. Visi darbi sanāca 2025 vasarā, un piestāv vasaras koteķīgai omai ar retro-latvietības izjūtu.

    Uzaugu Ņujorkas sabiedrībā, ejot Jonkeru Pamatskolā un Katskiļu Nometenē. Absolvēju vidusskolu, un pārvācos uz Portlandi, OR turpināt macības Reed Koledžā. Pašlaik domāju par urbanisma architektūru un sociālo māksla savai augstskolas tēzei. Esmu paredzēta absolvēt no Reed Koledža šo pavasar ar Mākslas Vēstures ‘major’ un ‘minor’ Relīģījā.”

  • My self-constructed Latvian identity follows a non-historical, everyday understanding of Latvianness through 'pagan' practices that play against a nostalgic 'retro'/80s Latvianness. This art series reflects poetic understandings of inherited dreams, words, rhythms, and visual works — all coming together in the summer of 2025 with a cozy, retro-Latvian feeling.

    I grew up in the New York Latvian community, attending Yonkers Latvian School and Catskill Camp. After high school, I moved to Portland, OR to study at Reed College. I'm currently writing my thesis on urban architecture and social art, and will graduate this spring with a major in Art History and a minor in Religion.
